Well thats one hard choice a XJ owner has to make.
Theres many differnt types of Mufflers that sound differnt.
For me i would have to go with a cherry bomb Glass Pack, They sound very beast on a 4.0 inline 6 XJ. I would run it dual glass packs, straight pipes, and Performance Tips. Now the magna 40 seroius sounds veryy MEAN, my bud has it on his truck running duals and straights with a tip and it sounds Amazing, But he has a 5.7 V8.

Why the cough, are you sick?
Anyway a lot of people have a problem deciding which muffler to choose, and everybody has their own opinion. Some people like packs, some people like straight pipes, some like quiet etc... I personally like flowmaster sound but 40's can be pretty loud on a DD. You might want to look into the delta-flow mufflers if you want to quiet down the inside and retain the "flowmaster" sound.
Best advice would be to talk to people who have already done muffler upgrades, or talk to a higher volume shop who might be familiar with certain brands and their sounds.
