Metallic rumbling noise coming from under my jeep
I have a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee limited, I've never had any major problems with it but lately I've noticed that when I'm driving I hear this metallic rumbling/clinking noise echoing out from under my jeep. It really only happens when I accelerate for the most part. Anybody else have this issue and have an idea of what it may be??

Welcome to the forum.
Is anything detected when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is running? What about w/ the vehicle supported w/ jack stands, the wheels off the ground, the engine running and in-gear? |

Sounds like it might be ujoints or cv joints, I would check that first. Is it 2 wheel or 4X?

Could be either one then, look for torn cv boots or torn rubber on ujoints, could be something deeper in the driveline somewhere but I would start at that.

Look at your transmission mount. It might be broken.

Before driving any more, open the filler hole on the rear differential and make sure there is fluid in there. After this check for play anywhere there is a U-joint. Also, if you aren't the type that looks under the car all that often, make sure it isn't something obvious like a disconnected shock absorber that is laying against the axle/exhaust.
