master door switch issue need help

Hello everyone,

I believe my master door switch is going bad or is bad. When you open the door pressing the lock and unlock button will not lock or unlock any door (except for the hatch door).

when driving and you hit the auto lock speed the doors do not lock (back drivers does once in a while) but it definatley sounds like it tries.

Of course while I have a remote its not programmed for this vehicle and since I can't get the doors to work right i'll probably program it for my 1997 dodge ram van instead and then buy a new one when i fix the jeep issue.

Does this all sound like the master switch is bad?

Now my other problem. I can't seem to find a switch and get conflicting information. Like on amazon i find them but they are for 1997-1999 but on ebay same looking switch is listed for 1996-1999.

I have
a 1996 jeep grand cherokee limited
4.0L engine

hi,as i understand it..the lock master control module is in the passenger side door..so just in case its not the lock module..have a look under the rubber boot where the wires run through from the pillar to the passenger door..and look for damaged or broken wires,if any are damaged or broken..simply fix them and that may get your locks working again.
