Default making my 2001 not fire

Hello, Sorry for the probably ignorant question, But I am replacing a Oil Pressure Sender and from what I have read on other posts, once removed I need to crank the engine without it firing to clear the gally, what would be the best, easiest way for me to do this, I just fear my ignorance may lead me to do something to throw off the timing some how.

The coil is in front of the distributor, easiest way to find it is follow the coild wire off the distributor. The coil wire is just like a spark plug wire and it connects right in the center of the distributor cap. Reason to unplug it is only to disable the engine from starting. You probably on need to crank it for a few seconds, you might place a rag in front of the sender hole and maybe a pan underneath cause its going to spray oil out of the sender hole when cranking.

Jnice,
Thanks, that did the trick, got it replaced and the oil pressure reads normal and doesnt drop to 0 at idle now, would have been a 42 dollar fix had I not broke the first pressure sender ....
thanks again

Im glad that worked for you because on my 01 w/4.0 i dont have a distributor w/ a coil wire. I have what looks like a half of a distributor stuck into the engine block connected to coil packs a top of a spark plug rail. It's funky setup but it looks cleaner and seems to have fewer moving parts that can fail.
