Default low coolant sensor??

My information center by my rear view mirror says low coolant but it's totally full........ I've been told it's my coolant sensor. I went to the parts store and ordered one but it comes in tomorrow....where is it located? How is it replaced? What does it look like? The part was 17.99.

Most sensors are built into the pump. Thats located at the bottom of the washer tank.

I found out mine was on the top of the overflow tank but how does it come out? It will turn but I can't pull it out the top and afraid to break it. I disconnected the two wire lead on top but can't get it out. Please help.

Be prepared to have the new sensor throw the same problem at you. Mine still does is sometimes. 97 ZJ and apparently there is a good write up in the advanced tech section on how to repair the VIC wen it keeps saying " coolant sensor bad". Hope the part works tho. Good luck

that "coolant sensor bad" write up really works... I had that message so i replaced the sensor and still got the message... ended up pulling the VIC apart and even though the solder points looked perfect i reheated them anyway and now no more message. actually used the concept of that write up to fix my flickering headlight switch...

but i think he's just getting the low coolant message...

I've got a '97 ZJ and just replaced the coolant sensor in the thermostat housing and am still getting that "bad coolant sensor" message. Does anybody have the link I can't find it.
Thnx

Thnx
the bad coolant sensor message is referring to the sensor at the top of the coolant bottle. the sensor is probably actually ok. there are bad solder point inside the vehicle information center (VIC). there's a write up about it here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/c...moval-1228233/

pm me if you need any help doing the fix. it's pretty simple if you know how to solder....
