Little help with front hub replacement...
I got the new hub on,but for the life of me cannot get the cotter pin through the hole due to the spring steel washer. It always catches on it. I even tried bending the cotter pin and that still didn't work. How important is it to even use the nut lock or whatever it's called?

I've heard and read that the cotter pin isn't needed.....but don't quote me on that. As far as the washer and the lock nut..they are absolutely needed!!

When I put the pin through the hole in the axle,it catches the spring steel washer.

It sounds to me like the axle is not seated in the hub. Just did the hubs on my 97. The spring washer then the castle washer , after u line up the castle with the hole u should be able to push it in towards the nut a little to clear the cotter key.. hope that helps. My neighbor was suprised 30 minutes or so per side. LOL.2nd set in 3 yrs or so..nothing was "rusted" together.
