My buddy is about to buy a 97-2000ish model grand cherokee and will want 1.5-3 inches of lift and 31 inch all terrians, doing some very very light wheeling. My question is are these models cheap to lift(spring spacers?) or should i try and buy one already lifted to save a little cash? And what are my options for 1.5-3 inch

A cheap spacer lift will give you almost 2 inches of lift at a cost of about 150 depending on who you buy it from. I had a Trereflex spacer lift on my 95 ZJ and hated it. It made noise and caused a death wobble issue, but the extra 2 inches did look cool. I took it out and have never been happier, I sold the kit to a member for 30 bucks.
