Default just cant catch a break...

Jeep started making a loud thud thud thud noise as I drive and shaking pretty bad. Came out of nowhere. I looked underneath and nothing appears to be broken. Its not drivable this way (at least I wouldnt think so with how violent the thud is) any ideas before I take her to a shop to get checked out?

I think its coming from the front passenger side. Its rythmic with the jeep moving. I speed up its faster and when im slow @about 15 mph its a slow solid thud.

Check your front axle u-joints. One may have frozen up and shucked a cap.

Agreed, threw a cap and blew the pins on one, it's a loud noise. Haha

I'd check the yokes on both sides where the u-joint is. YouTube has videos for u-joint replacements.

If it's that bad, you might need to get a new yoke from a wrecker. It's stupidly expensive from the dealer.

x2 for some reason the passenger side u-joints go bad faster than drivers side check both and get greasable ones

Greaseable u-joints are available, however there isn't enough room to leave the grease fittings in and the plugs rust enough so you can't get them out to grease them. The ones with the flush fittings rust up quickly also. What I'm saying is put the cheap ones in, grease them well before, and replace as needed. They're cheap and easy to replace. Unless you do a lot of mud-bogging, they should last a couple of years easily.

The greaseable U-Joints also can allow mud, dirt, etc into the joint. Best to get a sealed U-Joint like Spicer or equivalent that will last longer.

If you have CV joints check and make sure the boots are not torn. If one is that could indicate which one is bad. Normally you notice CV joints going bad first when going around turns. Although CV Joints can be serviceable meaning you can fix them, at least on other vehicles I usually buy a new half shaft for replacement.

Also, while you are under there check your Stabilizer links so they are not broke, usually rust thru and break.

well he hooked it up and it passed the test, no exhaust going into my radiator at idle. he said he thinks that's still the problem and why my radiator keeps blowing. it just doesn't seep into the radiator unless im on a long drive or whatever. and my cv joint is fine but my inner seal for the differential there is bad and that's leaking. so he checked the fluid and its still full. he said its not leaking that bad and to keep an eye on it. then he told me itll be 500 for him to fix it. lol ya right, I have some time I will research it and do it myself.
