Jeep WJ oil pressure

I have a 2003 WJ with 197000 miles on her. What should the oil pressure guage read after warm up? Mine currently reads just above the half way make.

Sounds perfect to me. My gauge says 40 at the half-way mark.

:hammer: And that is all it will ever read. 2003 has a fake gauge it does NOT read oil pressure. It is like an idiot light....reads halfway with any pressure above 7 psi and reads zero if pressure drops below 7 psi.
So in your case your oil pressure is greater than 7psi.

I question your information source.

My head.....2002 was the last year that JGC used a real pressure gauge. The oil sending unit is a one wire switch that opens at 7psi and closes at 4psi. When it closes at 4 psi it grounds that single wire and forces gauge to zero. Open (ungrounded circuit) forces gauge to mid position.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but it destroys my faith in Chrysler.....wait.....it's not Chrysler anymore, is it? Damn!

I've already told myself this WJ is the newest jeep I'll ever buy. My next one probably will be an older XJ or TJ. Newer vehicles are getting WAY too complicated. All I want is a 4.0, a 242 or 231, and a radio. That's all I need.
