Default Iron Rock Offroad or Old Man Emu?.... ZJ

Ok I have 700 saved for a lift.. Trying to decide whether to buy the IRO 4.5 lift kit or the OME 4.5 trailblazer lift kit. I don't think the ome kit comes with anything for my brake lines.. The iro kit does. Is that something i need? Any suggestions or comments? Pics too of either lift

If you want a nice ride, you want OME.. And I wouldn't trust IRO's vast knowledge on shock lengths.. The ones they told me to buy for a 4" lift are too long even on my 5.5" lift. I can bottom the damn things out on speed bumps. So be aware of that if you do order from them.

I ordered my OME components from rocky road outfitters. Very nice kit with all the extras needed for a decent price. Springs front and rear.

Yeah thats where I was going to get mine.. But im worried about my break lines. The ome doesnt come with drop down brackets or extended brake lines. Do I need that? did u get the 4.5 lift?

Well I was planning on buying a complete kit, so I dont think I would have to worry about that.. Did u build ur lift piece by piece or got a kit?

One was a kit, one wasn't. I called them up and asked to verify my lift height vs the shocks they gave me. They said that's right. I didn't guess on lift height either, I measured before and after. And made sure my before height was normal for a stock ZJ. They do not want to allow for any up travel it seems, only down. OME is a little better then that.

Rear line should be alright. What some do for front if you need a little extra length is unbolt the bracket that is between the hard/soft lines for some extra travel. There is a list/thread somewhere that shows what other vehicle brake lines, that are longer, work for XJ/ZJ. I know YJ lines are longer. And will bolt right in.

I have heard mostly negative things about RRO, and a few good things. Just a thought.

When I ordered my kit I went with the 6" lift with the new shackles and spring isolators. It came with the rear brake line, and I just relocated the front brake lines down further. I also bent up new front hard lines since mine were looking a little wonky.

I won't give either thumbs up or down to RRO. Basically just bought the components from them to get the OME springs. Their shackles are alright as well as the front coil spacers. Shocks... eh. I never called of inquired about anything. Just wanted the OME springs. They did step up and replace the track bar after UPS destroyed it.

You are in fact aware that OME doesn't even make 4.5" springs, right? Nor do they even manufacture the 3.5" springs that RRO claims to use. Give OME a call sometime...

Yes. OME spring pack is only 3". RRO uses a shackle to achieve the 4.5" lift. And then I added their spring block to achieve the 5.5 lift.

You can see the block here. This is the kit from RRO without the trackbar. I didn't use the trackbar or t-case drop that came with kit. Like I said I'm neutral about RRO. I'm not a fan of lift blocks, but the OME springs do ride alot better than the RC pack I had on before. My XJ isn't used as a DD, but I didn't want a trail only rig either.
