Indicator problem Urgent...

Model: Grand Cherokee
Engine: 4.7 Petrol V8
Indicator problem Urgent...
HI
my left indicator is playing up, the lights flash when I unlock the car as normal, they work on 4 ways but are IFFY to say the least when I indicate left, right is fine just left does its own thing... I have changed the stalk but to no change, my local dealer mech guy says it could be a connection in the tow hitch plugs but they are clean.... any ideas or help please????
