Default Ignition tune up / upgrade

My new ZJ has a slight miss.. I changed the plugs to Champion double platinum's gaped at .035 but it's still doing it. Next is the Cap / Rotor and plug wires.

For Cap / Rotor I can go with either an Accel with copper (or brass) ends for $15.99 or a BWD select with the same ends for $26.99. Obviously the Accel is the better price but is it a decent distributor cap? I would match the rotor using the same brand as the cap I purchase.

Plug wires are $22 for the Xact's from Advance or $67 for the MSD 8.5mm ones. (would there be any benefit running the MSD on a stock coil?)

Lastly the coil. I'm debating running either the MSD or Accel, Although I might keep it stock if she idles smooth after the wires and cap / rotor are installed.

Mainly I'm more interested to know if using a better wire would yield better spark on a stock coil.

I will be watching this thread. I have been wanting to change everything to MSD. So make sure to post what you do and what the outcome is.

I use Mopar wires on my '97 ZJ's 5.2L V8. Exact fit, no problems, and they've got the cylinder #s on them to make it easier when changing plugs. JMO

I forgot to add that I only use the Champion RC12LC4's gapped at .035". No problems at all.

I've got mopar wires on it now. The previous owner just installed them around 2 years ago but I feel I'm going to need to replace them as the cap / rotor was done at the same time as well.

I think those wires would be fine. JMO
Just pull the boots and twist when removing them.

Assuming they are working correctly, but I don't have any way to test them except to swap them out.

I'd leave them for last. Then if you still have a miss replace them. I'd do one thing at a time. If you replace everything at once you won't know where the problem was. JMO

I went with the Champion double platinum's because I heard of many people liking them in the 4.0.

I run the Performance Distributors Ignition Upgrade on my 5.2. For plugs I have Autolite 3923s gapped to .065" as rec. by the Screamin Demon Coil. They also have the cyl. numbers on the wires.
