Default Idle / Alternator issue

New issue. When sitting in park at idle it is around 1k rpm which is normal, but sounds like it has a slight miss. I figure it needs a tuneup.

But when im driving, as soon as i let off the gas the rpms drop to 500 rpms and bounce around, dipping a little lower and acting it like it wants to stall but does not. When this happens the alternator voltage drops down to 8-10 and stays there along with the wacky idle until i hit the gas and go again.

It also does this when at a stop if it's in drive. As soon as i switch to park everything levels out.

Any ideas? Seems like a basic tuneup aside from the alternator voltage. Cap, Rotor, CPS, Pickup coil, and ignition coil are all new. Plugs and wires are not

1000rpm is a little high, I would look for a vacuum leak. Your alternator may be ready to take a dump too.

1,000 is normal for it. I checked for a vac leak since i was screwing around under there with the MS but i didn't find one.

I'll check it out, probably needs a good cleaning anyway. Thanks

IAC seems to be the most likely cause and the alternator is not taking a dump, when rpm fall below 500 your not going to have the correct voltage output.

its all about "cause and effect"

Hmm, that actually makes perfect sense lol.

I uninstalled the windshield washer reservoir when i was working on the MS, it seems EXTREMELY unlikely that it would matter, but since i have zero clue how that system works is the pump working off a vac line? Like i said, extremely doubt it but i would feel dumb if thats an exposed vac line from me not hooking it back up yet.
