Default Idle Air Control Valve

Has anyone ever had the Idle air control valve go out and cut fuel to the fuel rail? Kinda like the fuel pump is out? I have a 96 GC 5.2L

The IAC will not cut fuel, it only cuts air off.

I had an Alarm installed in my jeep. After, while it's still in the shop, the Jeep wont start, the cruse control does not work, none of the lights on the dash light up, the horn doesn't work, and the fan for the AC will not blow on high (it works on 1,2,3, but not 4) So I called the owner of the shop and he said they would take care it. Well, the manager keeps saying that it's not there install. So after two days he calls one of his buddies out to the shop and they use this machine to determine that the issue is the idle air control valve and not anything they've done. I have a fuel pressure tester and when the jeep runs it has 50psi or so of fuel pressure and 0 after the alarm install. This guy changes the part and now the jeep is running (none of the other issues are fixed yet). You think he's telling the truth or trying to pull a fast one? When I looked this up this is the site I used and it said nothing about the IACV killing fuel.

I think you're getting duped. If there were no problems before the alarm install, and now there are problems after the alarm install, I would say they tapped into something incorrectly, and they're the ones that have to correct the problem.

Thank you for all of the info. I just got back with my Jeep and it is in deed running great. They ended up finding were they pulled a bunch of wires out at the T connector in the steering column. Most all of the issues are now corrected. The back lighting for the dash switches still don't light up. But S**t some times you have to know when to call it quits. I mean I guess.

check your fuses. They may have shorted out something while installing the electrical wiring for the alarm.

Make sure you have tail lights. Sometimes if the dash isn't lighting up, you wont have tail light too.

Yeah, no luck with the fuse. I checked them with a continuity light. As for the tail lights everything looked good. Hazards, revers, brake, turn signal and parking.

my only guess is that they forgot to attach the wiring for the lights on the dash. I hate electrical problems.
