I lost reverse
earlier today my 2000 gc laredo started making loud clacking noise in reverse. went to tranny shop and was told it was transfer case. when i got home reverse was just slipping. I'm thinking its more a tranny issue. i don't see how transfer case will allow forward but not reverse. any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated. i don't want to change transfer case if its the tranny, moneys tight. thanks for any and all help Doug.

Hi I don't think either that it would be the transfer case. Maybe a stupid question: is the fluid level ok in your transmission?

My trans manual says reverse band or O/D unit direct clutch malfunction.
