I broke the fuel filter fitting tank side
 

I used 5/16 high pressure fuel line to get it home. Four hose clamps and I slipped it over the filter and supply line. My question is what years of Grand Cherokee 4.0 are compatible with my Jeep, and is that particular line compatible with any XJs, if so, which years? I am obviously doing this at the JY. I believe that the line has the same fittings on both ends.
I had to cut the line back because it had a bend in it so I could get the 5/16 line over the hard plastic line that runs from the tank. The repair kit is now out of the question because I don't have enough line to place it in boiling water.

In case anybody cares to know....The part # is 52127724.... It will only fit 95 and 96
ZJs. Despite what all the Mopar parts sites will tell you, part# 52005108 is NOT a direct fit for a 95 or 96. As most of you already know the fuel filter was moved inside the tank in 97 and 98. I'm a little confused why 55 people looked at my post without a single reply. What did I say or do that was wrong? Part# 52005108 is meant for 93 and 94s only.

I don't think you did anything wrong. I think a lot of people look at the posts just to see what the issue is. If they don't know anything about it, they probably don't post anything or reply. I don,t own a ZJ, and since that wasn't in the title of your thread, I looked and read your thread. I'm sure someone with more knowledge on your vehicle will chime in sooner or later. Have a little patience.

Thanks for your kind words. It's just that this has happened to practically every post I've made. It's just a little frustrating, that's all. I've owned five XJs and I swore I'd NEVER own a Grand Cherokee, but this 95 had 88,000 miles, no rust underneath it and cost me $1,500.....I had to get it. I've done a lot of fixing things so far. I absolutely cant stand all the un-needed electronics in this thing, but one thing at a time, and I'll get it the way I want it. I mean Auto tinting rear view mirror? Really? About the un-needed electronics in the ZJ, you've got to look at the reasons it's a Grand. It was the best, most comfortable jeep made at the time. Think of it as the Cadillac of jeeps as opposed to your Chevy (XJ). The comfort options were supposed to appeal to people who wanted a reliable 4x4 that was smoother on the street. The NP249 was designed for those same people who didn't want to worry about shifting a transfer case.

Add to that, your 95 was a change-over year for some systems, just as the 97-98s were. There is no reason you couldn't use 5/16 high pressure fuel hose slid directly over the barbs at the tank and filter and clamped. If you plan on changing the filter frequently, put a loop in the hose so you can just cut it short at the filter when you change it. The hose will stay on as long as there is some kind of bubble or flare on the tubing that you can clamp above.

I drive a 2000 WJ and most of my experience is with that. If you think your electronics are complicated, you ain't seen nothin' yet! I had a 97 ZJ, but not long enough to get involved with dropping the tank to change the filter.

It is incredibly difficult to diagnose long distance with limited information so some guys just blow you off because they don't have the time or interest to get involved. I used to be one of the first to answer a post, but I'm starting to lose interest because they are the same old problems all the time. I know it's a PITA to search previous posts to find answers, but most of these problems have been answered before. I think if I see another overheating problem, I'm going to puke!

just to mirror the other comments I read the post but could not offer a reasonable suggestion so I did not respond. I have a 96 and can see the fuel filter just above the axle and had no idea the other years had them in the tank. I do like the grand over a regular Cherokee mainly for the amenities. I also like having rear springs. I don't like the electrical issues (the JY is my friend!) and the fewer venders out there that offer aftermarket parts. I do like that the purchase price of the grands seem to be less expensive than the square bodies.
