Default how MC separates from booster?

Changing my 96 GC Ltd with ABS's leaking brake booster and have both nuts off, but the MC wont budge from the booster. I hate to try to pry behind it; any other way to get it loose?

Also, anyone who has done this on an ABS V8, is there enough movement of the MC to get the booster out without disconnecting the lines?

The master cylinder should just pull off of the booster.

If you removed the nuts, vacuum should be the only thing holding it on.

There is no vacuum at that point of the booster.

There shouldn't be. I assumed he was replacing it because the seal was leaking. Why won't it come off?

It's stuck. I don't know, never had one refuse to come off before.

I Discovered there were two nuts on each stud holding the master cylinder on with one thinner nut hidden under a thin metal bracket holding part of the ABS setup to the master cylinder. One of the thinner nuts was rounded off and I had to cram vice grips between the metal bracket and the booster to turn it. I bought a couple of new nuts without the top hat collars to put a new booster on ($60 at the local parts house). So far so good, but I haven't driven far enough to know if the right front will drag again.

Can anyone explain why a failed or almost failed booster would cause one front brake to drag? I am still scratching my head about that, but a search of the archives reveals answers that dragging brakes can be caused by a failed booster.

It's not the booster if only one brake is dragging. Its more likely the caliper or a bad hose.
