Welcome to the forum. Can't help with your question. Those photos aren't accessible for some reason. Maybe a Google login is required? Anyway, it's easy to upload them here. That's generally better for most forums.

Sorry about that and thank you for the welcome. Just uploaded the photos the proper way :)

Looks similar to the one in my Mustang. Remove the nut on the backside and it should fall apart. The ring on the outside (first pic) has a lip on it, and the other side is a shell. When you tighten that nut, the lip and shell sandwhich the panel, holding it all together. Half the lighter comes out from the front, and the other from the back. That wider bit on the backside looks like a nut of some sort. That might have to come off also, not sure. Is that lighter illuminated (the blue ring)? Mine doesnt have that.

Worked beautifully, thanks! I now have a dedicated USB outlet. Sweet.

Can you post a picture of how your dedicated USB turned out? I'm interested in doing this.

No problem. It's not yet back in the car, but you'll get the idea. Here's the eBay listing I bought from too. Do note that I had to bore out the hole a bit with a round file for it to fit.

And...all done. This is going to be handy. One less adapter.

Did you wire to to the original harness or to the power outlet circuit? It will not be hot with the key off unless you wired it to the power outlet. I just have a plug-in USB so I just plug it in when and where I need it.

Very nice, Doug. Looks great!

I'm planning to do that myself on several vehicles.

I'm leery of eBay quality, myself. If you want to buy the best, look for Blue Sea Systems. All of their stuff is top quality.

I wired it to the same wires that went to the original lighter. So, it only works when the key is on.

Yeah, definitely. I feel a decently reliable USB cigarette lighter replacement is pretty hard to mess up though. I'm pretty confident in it based on how simple the piece is.

Also, does anyone know what this is? I took a picture of it during the process. It was connected to the old cigarette lighter.

I left it connected in case it is some sort of sensor. Maybe some sort of light? What do you think I should do with it? - Leave it connected or disconnect.

Ash tray light. It clips to the upper part of the tray housing.

Dave, c'mon. You know better. Why are you yanking a newbies chain like that? :furious:

Ignore him, Doug. He's playing with you. He knows quite well that it's the dilithium deframbulator housing. Handle it carefully - those dilithium crystals are pretty fragile.

This one in particular was hooked onto the cigarette lighter. There was another one for the ash tray.
