How to clean inside foggy headlamps

Discovered this trick on a Porsche forum. Some of you GC owners may save alot of money with it. Yes, it works but you must use pure methanol.

Waay to much work. Get yourself a bottle of Blue Magic lens cleaner and in 10 minutes you will be done with it.

Blue Magic on the inside of the lens?

He did the outside with a 3M product which I find to be way to much effort and for me, less than satisfactory results. I just used the Blue Magic and it makes the lens look good enough for me that I wouldn't mess with the inside.

Understood. The methanol method for the inside of the lens is for those looking for a higher level of results. Obviously not for everyone...

Wonder which 3M product he used on the outside of yours since I've used some of their products with excellent results over the years?

I looked in the garage and the package is no longer there. I recall it had little hand held squares of various grits and some liquid or paste. You used the squares in specific sequence. The final clarity was just okay. Not what I expected for the price, effort and the amount of time it took. And the result did not last more than a few months. This Blue magic is amazing. Easy to use, cheap to buy and it only took me about 5 minutes on each lens. I got a much better result and I see little degradation over 6 months. This not me. I didn't use a buffer, but my expereince was very similar. I would say my headlights were not as bad as these.

The methanol is a great idea. I've had good luck with rinsing them out with distilled water as well, then leaving the seal off around the plug and letting the heat from the bulbs vaporize the water.

How do you get to the inside of the headlight? Through the small hole?
