Default Help on Replacing the Wheel Bearing!

Im having trouble getting the Axle out so I can replace my Wheel Bearing in my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is there a step by step way of doing this. If so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Or if you're talking about the front? I was thinking about the rear.
This will give you an idea of how to replace the front hubs/bearings. Click>->>Replacing the hub assemblies.
That shows a Cherokee but a Grand is nearly identical.

Im not sure what your talking about...Front or rear? To replace the hub bearing assembly in the front you don't need to even take the shaft out. The rear is a whole different story.

Take a 2 1/2 grade 8 bolt with nut just on the end. Have a friend turn the wheel one direction and slowly back while you wedge the bolt between the saddle on the axle and the hub. Have your friend keep turning the wheel and the hub will pop right off. Make sure to unbolt the hub first...lol

if your doing the rear it could be done a couple ways. if it has 4 bolts on a flange under the rear brakes you want to just remove them and the axle will just slide out ( supposed to but they do make a speacial puller cuz sometimes they are a PITA to get out) If you dont have a flange with bolts then u probly have "C" clips in wich you need to pull the diff cover and remove them off the ends of the axle shafts, then they will slide out

His '98 Grand rear axle has C-clips regardless if it's the D44 or D35.

Thanks for all of the help guys! We replaced the Pinnon Seal while I was in there as the Wheal bearing and Seal. As we pulled the Axle we noticed that it has some groves in the front part of the shaft. We decided to see if it would hold but last night it shows signs of leaking again. A buddy of mine has an extra D35 Axles and so I will replace it and go from there. I will keep you guys updated on the status. I also have trouble shifting it out of 4 low we think it could be bad linkage and change the Transfer case fluid! as well as the Transmission motor mount is about 1 inch lower than normal so I will replace that too. Thanks again guys!

the low trans mount will alter the linkage angles and make it shift like crap.
