Default HELP! No Oil Pressure!

Well my gauge was reading fine, today it decided to read 80psi and flicker back to normal (40-45) then flicker up to 80 and down to normal again. I was on my way home form Central Jersey and stopped at a Jiffy Lube to get an oil change cuz i was 200mi over due and its pouring out. Got the oil change pull out of the lot and its reading 0. I shut the truck off pop the hood check and i have oil and its clean. Look for leaks but its impossible to tell in a monsoon. Checked it 2 more times on the ride home and its right at the OKAY mark, however its still reading 0 PSI. What do I do!? I f-ing hate jiffy lube with a passion and will never go there again. Do you think maybe they pulled the wire off by mistake or something. Does anyone know where the oil pressure sender is on the 4.0I6?

I would bet it is a very strong possibility that the Jiffy Lube guys accidently knocked the wire off your Oil Pressure Sending Unit which is right next to your oil filter. They probably knocked it off while swapping the filter out.

i was hoping that your response was going to be exactly that. I can stand outside for more than a minute or so before im completely drenched. Its also raining so damn hard that the entire engine is now soaked from the hood being open for 5mins. As soon as it stops im going to check that.

but if it was jumping from 45 to 80 before you had the oil changed then it may be something else.

They may have broke the sensor. Happened to me once when they changed the oil. Its real easy to do. Another time my sensor went bad it acted the same way. Very sporadic pressure readings till it finally quit reading at all.

well thats exactly what those C**K S*****G F*****S did!!! However they didnt tell me that so when i got home and parked it the oil slowly leaked all over my damn driveway!! And then i started it up this morning to let it warm up and defrost the windows go outside and notice no Oil Pressure and see a giant rainbow under my truck! Shut it off immediately pull the stick and its dry as a bone! I will drive the truck through the store if my motor is knocking or has any loss of power or anything. I will get restitution over this. NEVER EVER GO TO LUBE EXPRESS EVER!!!!! they have morons, drop outs, flunkies, junkies and failures at life that work there. This is just the beginning of my rant with them. It will not be settled till i talk to their corporate branch managers

we had something like that happen with the wifes mercedes....retards messed it up real bad and we had oil all over our brand new driveway. They paid to have mercedes change the oil and service the motor completely and paid to have our driveway cleaned and pressure washed.

Definately worth calling corporate on that. I mean all they have to do is change oil, you would think they could get it right.

G/L with getting things solved.

well the owner/manager of the LubeExpress came to my house, saw the oil in the driveway, brought 6qts and a new Oil Pressure Sending unit as well. Changed it out and put in the new oil. Fired it up and it holds 40-50psi no problems. Listened for knock and i heard none, though its hard to tell because i do have something knocking by the trans/flywheel. I dont believe any internal damage was done though i cannot tell for certain. Was asked for a coupon for a free oil change and told them no thanks i wont be coming back to you again. Cross your fingers for me and hope nothing internally is wrong. so far so good, but who knows

Exactly!

Never have trusted quick-lube type places like that, never will.

Heck, I have a hard time trusting anyone, even my mechanic friends, with working on my vehicles....

Yea, normally i do my own oil changes and services. I figured since its the first oil change since i had it and it was 400 miles over due and it was a monsoon out, which still hasnt stopped raining yet (4days). I would just bring it there. WRONG! never again, it could be a hurricane or a nor' easter and ill either wait or do it in the weather lol. LESSON LEARNED!
