Default Help! Charging system problem

I have a 95 GC Limited (5.2). I didnt run my cherokee for about two weeks and when I attempted to start it, the battery was dead. I charged the battery and the vehicle started, but would stall out when the RPM fell below 1000. I replaced the alternator and charged the battery. All was fine after replacing the alternator - on the initial start, it kept running at an idle. I even turned it off and on, and i still started.
Anyway, I took it down the road for gas and when I tried starting it, it was dead. I jumped it, but the original issue is back - I can keep it running as long as I keep the RPMS up. When I let off the gas, it dies and the battery is immediatly dead. I was able to drive it home from the gas station after the jump, as long as I kept my foot on the gas, but as soon as I pulled in the driveway, it stalled out and the battery was dead.

Any Ideas?

I'd try to replace the throttle positioning censor.

Also check your grounds and your cables.

I need to go thru and check some of the cables for corrosion or a bad ground somewhere. Hope to get time tomorrow.

Never thought about it being a TPS though...? My biggest fear is a voltage regulator, which means I would need to find computer in the boneyard (And i dont know if that would even happen)

Thanks for the responses.. If anyone else has any input, please share!

One other thing.. Im new to Jeeps.. this is my first. I am mechanically sound, but borderline stupid with automotive electric systems. Other than the battery ground/cables and the alternator wires, where else would I check for bad wiring? Could it be something as simple as a bad relay or something like that?

I would take a guess your battery is cooked. internal short. If you have access to another one try it, without the original in the loop at all
