Help - A/C leaking onto floorboard
Last fall, I purchased a used 1994 Grand Jeep Cherokee.
I noticed it had a musty smell . . . this summer when the heat/humidity went into the mid-80's, I noticed a wet carpet front & back floor board areas.
After poking around I noticed droplets of water coming out of the lower dash & backseat area vents. I also noticed general condensation of the exterior of the heater box, dripping onto the carpet. The last thing I have realized, is that the fan probably puts out about 1/3 of the air I would expect at low, medium or high speeds.
I understand several Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge products have a similar carpet issue. Any ideas before I consider the 10 hour job (of getting in & out of the dash)?
Is it possible I have a partial blockage, allowing condensation to develop in the heater box, then flow out the vents & off the heat box area?
Thanks,

This is a classic where your condensate drain on the AC is plugged. It is a drain that goes through the fire wall to take off the water that collects on the cold surfaces of the AC coil. It will have to be cleared.
