grand cherokee overhead console
Hi, I am wondering... I Just bought grand cherokee but the overhead console is missing, Is it possible you have to have the overhead console connected to start the car, since the obd2 wires are running through it
I have 1997 model (obd2) but i just bought new console (obd1) but I think that will never work together
Can i twist some wires from the overhead console loom to start the car or isn't that my problem???

After studying the Service Manuals I discoverd that the Body Control Module and PowerTrain Control Module interface over a common bus (twisted pair of wires) the Insterment cluster, Security System, Overhead Console, Crank shaft position sensor, Air Bag deployment, etc. If one thing goes bad the system preaty much shuts down.
the thing is i bought 1997 JGC last week for 130 bucks because the guy who was replacing the 4.0L engine because the old one worn out. He put the new engine in the car but the car never started... I think i have looked for all the mistakes he could have make but i cant spot any... the new engine is from 1996 JGC (obd2 arrives in JGC in 1996... )
- I bought new crank shaft sensor
- I am not getting any check engine light
- All the fuses are ok, I have swapped the wiper relay with the ASD relay
any ideas?

first off start with the stupid little things like.... does it turn over? if so, do you have spark and fuel. if it turns out anything like mine , it'd turn over and run for a sec then die. ended up being a damn fuse.

I have checked all the fuses where the battery is, and aswell on the passengerside floor... all ok, I have swapped the asd relay,
-I am getting enough fuel
-12.2v to the distributor
-3 wires who are going to the distributor 5v-0v-5v
-the coil is getting 12V and reading the same on the other side
-not getting any spark if I put screwdriver to ground and into the sparkplug connector
- the OBD2 plug under the steering wheel is reading 12V (one wire)
