City or highway? 4.0L or V8? V8's usually max at -teens mpg-wise. The stock TC with the viscious clutch tend to fail over time. I would recommend swapping in a 242 TC, that allows 2wd.

AWD SUCKS, Bad MPG and wear out coupler lol

V8 + 242 = win. My WJ V8 gets upper 20's even with the lift and tires. But an AWD wont see out the teens

I live up north where it snows 6 months a year and I love it. The gas does kinda suck but other than that it's nice you dnt have to worry about putting it in 4wd ever...

I had a 96ZJ AWD with the V8. It was a really nice ride, there isn't really any bad handling unless the Viscous Coupler is going bad, which causes binding in tight turns.

Eh, how are you calculating mileage? That seems impossibly high. I could see 20ish on the highway tops.

That motor should b fine I always here the horror stories about the 4.7. I have a 99 WJ and it's all time 4wd you can find lifts for it.

There are several things you can do to the 5.2/5.9. For example, have any of you crawled underneath and looked at how restrictive the exhaust is on these things?? New mandrel bent downpipes 2.25" into a free flowing exhaust. Ignition upgrade, all brass terminal cap and rotor, hotter coil, one heat range colder plugs etc etc.

Taken 4th of July 2011. 205 miles one way. 21 mpg according to overhead. Hand calculated was 22.6. It took 9.1 gallons of gas to top off. This video was taken with the ZJ not running and the ignition on. Thats why it shows 0 for eco. This was a mix of highway and through city driving.

The front drive shaft is a cv style with double cardon. Break easy once lifted. I grenaded one with in 2 weeks of lifting mine..... It is common to swap out to a u-joint style double cardon front drive shaft.
