More than likely, you're going to have to change the input shaft to match the spline size and count for the V8. There may be a problem with the driveshaft u-joint size as well.

Well I started getting my 01 WJ 4.7 back together. I have a question tho, what is the part number for the retainer that goes from the header panel into the body by the fenders? Its in the upper top corners of both sides. I seem to have broken both or it was that way and didnt notice it when I stripped it down. The only thing left for me to do is get the top radiator support in and the header panel, and then patiently wait for my bumper to be made.

Limp Mode???

Hi peeps....any and all help is very much appreciated, thank you in advance.

My lady has a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, she has had an intermittent issue where as she is driving (has happened at various speeds) the truck goes into a limp mode, RPM drops to idle speed, no response when she presses the accelerator pedal. Usually clears up in a few seconds and she keeps going.

Today she left for work, this happened again and the shifter indicator lights on her display started acting up when she lost power, the square around the indicated gear letter P RND started bouncing around erratically. She came home and we switched vehicles. I have driven it a 1/2 dozen times today and it has not happened to me yet.

Did some searching thru the forum thinking maybe speed sensors. The front wheel bearings were just changed so I think they are OK, I did a visual check on the rear wheels and they seem intact.....

Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks
Pat

07' Grand Cherokee. Check engine light and Brake light issues.

I have an 07' Grand Cherokee Laredo. I've been dealing with a check engine and break light issue for a couple of years now. I've had three different mechanics check and fix the issue. But every time these lights come back on. Last mechanic said he can not find any issues with any systems. The lights continue to come on for a while (days usually) and then go off. Anyone else experienced anything like this?

I have an 07' Jeep Grand Cherokee. For the past couple of years I have had a check engine light which keeps coming on and off. Along with that I have all the Brake warning lights. They will come on for a couple of days then goes off. I have taken my jeep to three different mechanics, each time they fix something and it goes away for a while. The last mechanic said he can find nothing wrong. The check engine light says that there is a 'gas cap leak' I have replaced the gas cap and also had the mechanic check..no issues found. Any suggestions?

Guys,
I am trying to see if I can find a digital flasher module for my LED turn signals that have got me pulled over twice in 1 day. I went back to normal bulbs but want to use the LEDs are they are 3x's brighter. I cant seem to find the flasher module, and am looking. Any help would be awesome

dave1123 03-20-2018 02:40 PM

Okay, the flasher module is a special one with 3 logic circuits in it and is above the power junction box under the dash. It's hidden behind an aluminum brace for the steering column. FSM tells you to pull the 2 plugs on the power junction box and lower it down. I wouldn't because those 2 plugs power everything when the ignition is on and some other stuff and I didn't want to screw something up. It took me 5 minutes to remove the old one with channel locks and 45 minutes to get the new one in with my fingers. It's got something like 9 pins on it.

You'd be better off with load resistors on the lights. They just splice into the wires for each bulb and go to ground. I have 550 lm LED bulbs in my reverse lights and they work fine without resistors.

rivman05 03-20-2018 02:47 PM

Do you happen to have an idea on what the ohm for the resistor would be? I have asked this in another forum and got laughed at. The cops just dont like the hyperactive brightness of my turn signals when the led's are in.

dave1123 03-20-2018 07:11 PM

It's a simple matter to figure. Measure the ohms of a regular bulb for the turn signal filament. That's what the flasher needs to see in order to flash at the proper speed. With the resistor in parallel with the LED, it won't dim the LED at all. You can get LEDs with different lumen output so they won't be overpoweringly bright. The 550 lumen ones in my backup lights just about burn your eyes out! Check out what's available on superbrightleds.com A 60 lumen bulb is just a hair brighter than stock. They have resistors as well.

The 550s only draw 4ma so that flasher needs to see more resistance than that. The reverse circuit is not critical because there's no flasher to worry about there. Those are the only LEDs I am using.

Remember an LED doesn't produce any heat so snow will not melt off the lenses.

Thats who I got my leds from, I was hoping the would be resistored. Ill grab my dvom tonight and figure it out.

2018 remote start

Is it possible for a back yard mechanic to install a remote start on a 2018 GC Laredo? I can install everything and probably program everything. Just do not know if the software is available for a non Mopar tech. I hate to have to pay a dealer for something I can do. Don't know why my wife thinks she needs it though.

Depends on how tech/wrench savvy you are.
