RE-post of problem
Ok, fair's fair. My post was about my Cherokee having difficulty starting. The symptoms were that if I turned on the key and tried to start it, it would do nothing. At which point it would take 20 or 30 tries before it would fire. Sometimes more. The fuel gauge would not move during these attempts ..however if I only turned the key to on position and not attempt cranking it would again take a dozen at least turns of the key before the gauge would work. If the gauge swung on, it then would start.....but.... occasionally on the second twist to start. but mostly on the first twist. It had a new (day old) fuel pump and fuel pump relay. This is a used car on a Ford lot in which my Daughter works, so it wasn't that important to me, but being a Mopar person, of some interest..... at least until all these theatrics. I'm 66 and not inclined to wrench anymore. And especially in the electrical realm. It has supposedly been repaired with what was a ground cable from the battery. I am yet to find out as my Daughter will test it cold on the lot tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum.
The symptoms indicate some of the issues are electrical.
If this were my vehicle, then I would take a methodical approach to identify the problem(s), then implement the appropriate solution.
One nice thing about the ZJ is that everything may be maintained / repaired / upgraded by a shade tree mechanic. (A shade tree is required, though)
Owning this vehicle requires having the correct FSM. I prefer the printed volume, others like the PDF. I have both.
For this particular problem, I would start w/ the wiring diagram pages and follow the power through the system.
The other important starting point is to first safely disconnect the battery, then disconnect, inspect, clean and reassemble every power and every ground connection. It is very common for poor main power / ground connections to cause weird symptoms.
One essential tool is a fuel pressure gauge. It is common for fuel pump failures, even though they have been recently replaced.

Glad to help.
FYI, it is much better form to leave the OP information intact and to instead just post a new reply stating that the vehicle was not purchased.
