Default Got my New Grand Cherokee

ON Friday I picked up my 2000 GC 4.7V8. I have a couple of small problems with it....

1. I can't turn the headlights off! Even in the off position the lights come on as soon as turn the ignition on.
2. I only have one key. I can can get spares from ebay etc but I will need to program them to the ecu. I can borrow an OBDII scan tool which may help but where is the OBD connection in the car and what is the procedure for using the tool to program the ECU/Keys?

Other than that its a great car to drive. Even with the cost of fuel here in the UK! I may have to get an LPG conversion.

Only a dealer can program keys... they will need the SKIM pin-number.

does the vehicle maybe have the daytime driving lights programmed to turn on. Do the tail lights come on as well. In canada all vehicles have to have daytime driving lights. They normally are not as bright as when you actaully turn the lights on, and the park lights do not come on as well

I think the car orrigionaly came from Denmark where daytime lights are compulsory. Is it easy to re-program the lights not to come on? Is this another main dealer visit or can I do it with my OBD2 pc tool?

Thanks for all the answers so far. I have just booked it in for an LPG conversion as 15mpg at around £5 a gallon is just not funny.....

On that site, look up "Daytime Running Lamps". Daytime Running Lamps are required in Canada. Are DRL required in the UK? If not, and your WJ has them, the dealer can de-activate them by programming in the country code. The DRL relay can be left in place. The DRL relay replaces the normal low beam relay. (This info came off the web site. Couldn't you just take out the DRL relay and replace it with a low beam relay-avoiding the trip to the service dept.?)
