gonna rebuild trans on laredo? any tips?
whats up guys/girls, ive got a 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo with 92k miles on the clock. Motor runs great and ive done a ton of suspension updating.
Trans slips/revs in 3rd gear and sometimes kills the car when im sitting at a light.
I plan to take it to my usual trans shop, but just curious if theres any different gears i should ask for or anything i should know. I havent done all that much research on these jeeps yet. All ive found so far was that this jeeps weak point was transfer case and transmission.
Its gonna be a DD and never used off road. I tow a jet ski, waverunners, sleds, and a small boat with it if that makes any difference.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated....

from what i've heard they all have bad bands in them something about not wide enough or strong enough or over heat every body has a diff story mine shifts realy hard and i just got it to i was wondering if it could be fixed without taking it apart like some of the old tranny's with the valves on the side but any way you can order a upgrade to some trans you have to look up the number or what kind you have then order the beefer package but if your jeeps gonna br a dd just use regular stuff save the money for an extra cooler for it so it stays cooler and lasts longer

There are stronger planetary gearsets, and better friction discs available, but the cost of the rebuild will go up. An aux cooler is always a good idea if you plan on towing.

The cost of a rebuild is my problem a used transmission is just my easier way out. Mine locks up (or did when it was in the jeep) when it warmed up. Ran smooth cold but as soon as it warmed over it locked tight and cut off.
