Gauges flickering after shutdown

Ok guys I have a hard one, my 2000 Grand Cherokee has been giving me a fit.
It started with the gauges clicking and flicking back and forth after you turn the key off. Well when I tried to restart the engine no luck. So I tapped on the battery terminals and the clicking stopped and the truck would start. The next day we went to the store to buy terminals and again after shutdown the gauges went nuts again, so I hit the terminals and it stopped. Well after I replaced the terminals I thought it would have taken care of the problem, not the case! I cleaned the posts and used good quality terminals and have a good connection.Even after the new terminals it wont start or even try like no power. I know grand Cherokee's have problems with the ignition switches. Does this sound like the next step? Or possible ground issues? Or I read something about a shutdown relay? I'm pulling my hair out!!!
