Gas Tank Fire: should I be worried.

I would agree there is no hard evidence but I will disagree with you that there is no issue. There has been a significant coincidence that these models of jeeps are having an issue with bursting into flames after being struck in the rear at highway speeds. Check out the studies they are doing, I'm talking about the ones that isn't paid by Chrysler. Its got me rethinking my Jeep.

I think they finally admitted there may be an issue.

Its a recall, go to dealership and schedule an appointment and they will fix it for free. They announced the recall for it a few months ago.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind. As XJ-92 stated it is a recall. Go to the dealer and they will put a tow hitch on it, if you don't already have one. If that is nor good enough for you, sell it. Owning a WJ,XJ and a TJ I will just keep driving these death traps.

No I really like my jeep and if they have a plausible fix to this problem I wouldn't mind keeping it. I have called a hand full of jeep dealers and none of them have been told about the recall.

Ok, cool, glad you like it. The factory fix is to install a tow hitch. Do you already have one? If so you are good to go. If not install one yourself. The hitch install satisfied the feds so it's your call on if it's good enough for you.

I still have an open recall on my 1992 Cherokee for a brake shift interlock. Jeep sends me emails about it all the time saying that I haven't gotten it fixed yet, so I took it to a dealership and they tried to claim there was no such recall. Took it to a bigger and better dealer and they even had the part on hand and even showed me the recall paperwork that they received on that issue for my jeep.
