Gas pump stops
Yall,
While pumping gas, the pump shuts off like the tank is full. I know for a fact it isnt. This just started about a month ago and I have tried several different stations. Anybody have an idea of the problem?
Thanks

Could be too much pressure in your tank. Could mean a clog somewhere, or that you just need to let it "air out" for a half a minute before you try pumping. Those pumps (afaik) turn off when pressure builds up inside the tank, indicating that it's full.
If you hold the pump out a little bit it should help fix your problem, except you'll need to be more aware so you don't shoot gasoline all over the place when full
edit:
After googling it to build up on knowledge a tad, a lot of people have success with rotation the actual pump 90 or 180 degrees, if you want to give that a whirl while you're there.

its caused usually, by the petrol rushing up the filler tube, when it hits the pump nozzle itl cut of to stop spillage, just pump slower or as said rotating the pump nozzle sometimes helps, think its worse in the summer
similar problem with my wife's jetta (i know-not a jeep!) the shape of the filler tube at the top causes it shut itself off so i just pull it back out a bit and then just "babysit" the pump 'till it's done drinking.

kellsta,
Which year do you have, is it the Grand or regular Cherokee, and which engine? Sometimes those may factor into answer.
I agree with Addy. Just wondering if you have any additional emissions control systems that may be affecting the pressure build-up.
