fuel tank
so how do you fix a gas tank ive herd of using jb weld but im not sure..the tank is leaking from the top i think.
In the past I fixed a 1" hole in the bottom of a gas tank with a metal patch and JB Weld. It held for years, until after I sold the car at least.
the metal patch bonds to plastic it suck to cause i just filled it up
My tank was steel. Just scuff up the surface real good to give it something to grab and adhere to. Then let it dry for 24-48 hours (follow directions carefully) before filling it.
Call me crazy but I fix them with a non leaking one. There cheep and if its on the top it has to come out anyway. Junk yards are your friend!
just a thought if i overfilled the tank at coul;d it come out somewhere on the top of the tank cause i rember trying to get an even 35 bucks in and itthe pump kept clicking but i got it
Yes it could slosh/leak out until the level of the gas gets below the leak.
could the seal on the fuel pump leaked due to alot of pressure and fuel in the tank when i overfilled it
I've never heard of that happening. It would be more likely where the fuel filler hose enters the tank, or the rollover/vent valve. IMO

thanks i gues im dropping the tank..im gunna wait till the gas light goes on
Good idea. Less hazardous, and messy. Plus gas weighs 6 lbs. a gallon.
Get some floor-dry or kitty-litter (it works the same but is cheaper) before you start. Dan |
The ring on your sending unit can leak but it isn't likely I have only seen it once
