flooded engine with gas
Hello all, so the wife has a
1998 Grand Cherokee,
6 cyl,
auto transmission
2 wheel drive
power windows, door locks, with alarm, a/c
cruise, tilt, rear window defogger, wiper, washer.
She left her one door open overnight, thought it was closed all the way, it wasnt. Killed the battery, charged for a couple of hours, it cranked but did not start. She accidentally put her foot on the gas, it started, but knew it was going to die if she let go, which it did and you could smell the gas. Let it sat for an hour or so, tried and nothing, still could smell the gas. So hoping over night it will dry out. We live in il, near wi so its cold out and no garage. Is there a fuel injector fuse to pull, start the truck and dry it out or no? She does not have a manual for the truck, i did not see such a fuse under the engine fuse box. Should it dry out in the cold overnight or no? Should i pull the spark plugs and use a heat gun and dry them out? What do you recommend? Battery is just a year old. thank you

i do not think that there will be lots of fuel inside cylinders, if you believe so, you can remove spark plugs and wait.

Welcome to the forum.
You can remove the spark plugs and let it air out. Gasoline will evaporate over time. Most should be gone overnight.
