Failed Catalyst
I have a 96 ZJ 4.0 with 190,000mi. Driving home the other day the check engine light came on. Drove it up to the auto parts store and had them scan the computer. The only code was for a failed catalyst P0430. Does this mean oxygen sensor(s) or catalytic converter. It also has started hesitating a bit on take offs. How can I determine what is bad?

take it to an exhaust shop to check the cat back pressure. 02 sensor is a matter of checking resistance on the connector to see if its in spec.

This was the code I had when the O2 sensor was out on my 98zj
P0138 O2 circuit high volt (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
