Question Factory CD Changer Compartment Install to Replace Factory Small Compartment?

Ok, so I'm not quite sure where to post this, so bear with me, LOL.

Anyways, my '02 WJ Laredo of course came stock without a CD changer, and just the small side compartment in the rear cargo area, but I want to add the larger compartment that regularly hold a CD changer so that I can close the top drawer and have a little place to store things in the rear cargo area (not planning on installing the factory CD changer, as I already have an aftermarket radio in the dash).

Planning on going to the local Pick-'n'-Pull to pick one up out of a WJ there with the factory CD changer installed into it (also need to get a front driver's door panel, as mine is cracked), but I'm wondering how easy the CD changer compartment is to install. I pulled slightly on the factory compartment, but didn't want to break anything, not sure if I need another bracket or not (which I could probably also get from another WJ with the factory CD changer).

Has anyone done this and how easy is it to do?

I'd appreciate any input!

Thanks,

Vince

You will need the whole wiring it to it,But good luck finding a cd changer that old that still works.A lot of them wear out with use or the owner pulls the clip loses it.I would rather have a aftermarket head unit with a usb jack or blue tooth or even a inline jack. The usb jack you can buy any thumb drive format it to fat 32 and fill it up with mp3s and have music for a long time.

No, he just wants the compartment for storage. How's your reading comprehension?

Lack of sleep and long hours at work has made me loopy lately.

Okay, you're excused. I was only kidding anyhow.

OP, you may find it hard to get one from the yards because the 10 CD changer was a top-of-the-line option and I don't suppose many people bought them. I may be wrong, but I don't see it.

Most of the Limiteds, as well as all Overlands, I know came with it, so, yeah, it won't be that hard to find and it won't be much. I'm just wondering if it's a lot to disassemble, I don't want to break anything on either vehicle (mine or the donor vehicle).

It looks to me like you'll need the whole side panel.
