Error code help
 
P0601, p0325 error codes came up. I looked them up but idk what they mean?
P0325

Knock Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

Knock sensor (# 1) signal above or below minimum acceptable threshold voltage at particular engine speeds.

P0601 (M)

Internal Controller Failure

Internal control module fault condition (check sum) detected.


Any ideas?

Bad news. P0601 Is a bad PCM. The P0325 could be one of 3 things, a bad knock sensor, bad wiring at the knock sensor or a bad PCM. Given that the PCM recognized its own failure and gave you the P0601 i would ignore knock sensor fail code and focus on getting the PCM replaced. Majority of the time that will be the root cause of a sensor failure code when there is also a PCM code. I would honestly clear the codes before doing anything else and see if they return. It never hurts to try to "reset" the entire system before replacing a PCM. It isnt cheap and the new one will need to be flashed by a dealer.

Its behind the coolant tank on the firewall. There are three wiring harness connectors going into it.

Thanks, could I have possibly gotten dirt or something in the Connectors?

Could be possible. I would say start by disconnecting battery then pull the connectors off of the PCM and look for any signs of corrosion/dirt (use a flashlight, natural light wont cut it) and spray the connections down with some contact cleaner (make sure it is completly dry before reassembly) then put it all back together and hook the battery back up and see what you get. This will accomplish two things, you are cleaning the connections at the PCM and by disconnecting the battery you have cleared the active codes. If the check engine light stays off, lucky you! If not, you are screwed and will have to replace the PCM.

I did all that and no light so far. There was dirt in all 3 PCM connectors.

Well today my check gauges light flashed maybe three times, than my check engine light came back on. But it's only throwing the icm code now.....
