Electric Windows open- Can't close

Hopefully someone can point in the right direction here on my GR 2003 Ltd,

A couple of days ago I found the floor pan on the drivers side, front and rear very wet.

Yesterday I spent stripping out the 2 seats and drying the carpet and foam as best possible.

To air I opened the passenger side windows, this was while I was jet washing the drivers side to try and identify the cause. Still not sure I've done that.

Last night I rebuilt the car and all is ok but for the passenger windows won't close (drivers side no operation),
the drivers door won't lock electrically (ok with key),
Remote and passenger door can lock / unlock 3 doors (not drivers),
mirrors adjustment lost, as is seat memory, although seat electrical adjustment ok.

So far I have stripped the drivers door,
the lock has continuity to the motor/ solenoid of maybe 5ohms,
the proximity switch changes state reliably when locked (manually). This seems ok to me.

I've removed the lock / mirror switch console, this has 12volt +ve which I assume to be the supply, I am assuming that this is the master the other 3 doors being slave? As the unit is electronics with relays the best I have managed is to tap the relays while trying to operate in the hope there is a bad contact.

The 1st issue is to get the 2 windows closed, any ideas appreciated.

I got a pointer from Yahoo 'fixya', previous experience of others suggested a broken black or orange wire in the rubber boot between the drivers door and cab.

In my case the black was broken, so I replaced with a 2.5mm flexible wire, crimped at the door side and choc block connected in the cab (easier for any future testing). All now seems to be working fine, so with the windows closed there's no more need for a tarpaulin.

Now I need to monitor for the water ingress.
