Dragging rear brakes
My 2000 WJ felt really sluggish today and having just had to replace the front calipers due to a binding caliper ( Teves - replaced both with Akebono ) I thought I'd check the rears - both rear wheels too hot to touch ! Obviously the rear brakes are dragging but as it is both sides, is this likely to be a parking brake issue or a caliper issue ?
Is this a common problem ?
Any tips or advice as to what to check first appreciated.

Check/clean/grease the caliper pins. Make sure the wheels spin freely after the brake releases. On my 97, I had one pin hang up and I had smoke coming off the rear wheel! The caliper pistons can hang up as well. My 97 only had one piston, but your WJ has two. I have 140K on my Teves calipers with no problems. Personally, I think the Teves are better because their larger size makes a better heat sink. But that's MY opinion.
Pull the calipers off. you should be able to tell if they're hanging up by how hard it is to remove them. spin the wheels to check the P/brake.
2000 WJ 4.0, 242 tc, basic stock model, no cool options. Soccer-mom mall-crawler before I bought it.
