1999 laredo, gives door open warning message, interior lights always stay on
Is there a switch on door that tells car door is closed?

Make sure you have power and ground each switch. Then jump the terminals on each one until the message goes away. And that will tell which switch, as long as it is a switch issue and not a writing issue

If you know there's power to the switch then jump the terminals and the door ajar light as well as interior lights should go off once you find which one is bad. This test only tells you if there is a bad switch provided there is good ground. I personally would use a test light that also shows polarity to check for power and ground. You could even use a multimeter. If you get a voltage reading with the positive probe in the positive portion of the connector and the negative probe straight to the chassis but don't get a voltage reading when you put the negative probe to the negative portion of the connector then your ground to the switch is bad. This is why I would jump the terminals first, one at a time. Of that doesn't work then try these other steps.

There is no voltage at that switch,it is grounded to the body when you open the door. There is only one wire.Just remove one switch at a time.

True, same concept minus ground wiring. This actually makes it a little easier to. Basically ground each power then. If there's still an issue, you may very well have a short. Make sure to check the switch for the hatch as well

My 2000 WJ tells me which door is open. Doesn't your 99? My wiring circuits must be more complicated than simple grounding switches.
