Do your own lift or take it to a shop? How hard is it?
We bought a 03 GC with the 4.0 and are hoping to put a lift on it that will allow me to run 33" tires. Just wondering how big of a lift I will need? 4" big enough or do I have to go 6"?. Also do I need Long arm or will short arm work. I still want a very road worthy vehicle with some off road capability. Nothing crazy but want to be able to do some wheeling in it and then be able to drive it home at freeway speeds without death wobble etc. What lift out there should I look into? I'm thinking my budget will need to be under $3000 all done including wheels and tire. I think I will just do steel 15" wheels. I don't need anything fancy.
I have basic air tools etc but nothing crazy. No welder etc. Is this something I can do in my garage or will I be better off taking it to an off road shop and having it done? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 02 with the iron rock lift with factory arms and 33" x12.5" it is not the most enjoyable thing to drive long arms are on the list ....also you are more than likely going to have to cut your fenders or use cut out flares and there's another 500 against your budget

Go 3" and 33x10.50s.
You'll have close to 1k in new tires.
A 3" iro lift is only 500..
You would have money left to regear axles too.
Consider you'll be in the territory of needing a sye and custom driveshafts.
If you have a front CV shaft you'll need to go to a u joint shaft..

I don't know if 15's will work mine came with 16's from the factory... But yes if you have basic mechanical skills you can do this at home .basic tools and if you live close to a parts store that rents out tools you'll be fine.you will need spring compressers torque wrench sae and metric sockets good jack and jack stands. But your in the gray area when going to 33's .leave a little extra$ for tie rods ball joints control arm bushings these are your causes of death wobble.I can't stress enough do your research Google and forums are your friends there are different set ups on WJs so make sure what you have before you decide
