Default death wobble after new tires and alignment

got my zj recently and it drove fine on the highway all the way home. 70mph hitting bumps and all that. but it wandered a little bit and the steering wheel was way off center.

so i took it to a tire shop and got an alignment. i also had new tires put on.

on the way home i got death wobble just driving. i didnt have to hit a bump for it to start. get to 50mph and it starts. if i hit a bump it starts as well.

why would it start after i got the alignment? and new tires.

Did they balance the tires when you had them put on?

Check you ball joints. They may be worn out and loose. That can cause a serious case of death wobble.

Dont rule out the tires. I got a brand new BFG KM2 that causes about the same thing you describe. It doesnt take a bump or anything, starts shaking about 40-45 and its gone around 55. I put the front up on jack stands and spun the tires and the LF tire is out of round. Im going to try to warranty it but I was already warned I will probably be S.O.L.

This bad tire did help me discover I had a little play in a tire rod end and even though they are band-aids the steering stabilizer was shot too. After replacing those the wobble is now managable but obviously still there. You need to check all you suspension and steering components for wear.

Zingablaxj, Is your ZJ lifted? Also did they give you the before & after specs on the alignment?
