Default Daughters Sweet 16

SOOO my daughter turns 16 soon so yea my personal NIGHTMARE has finally come to pass and yes I have all the guns loaded.

Anyway the time had came to start car shopping and my wife and I found a couple decent Jeeps. Now I've never owned a Jeep anything, but I jumped in feet first and not only got one for her, I picked up an 01 GC for me. I've been lurking on a couple forums for about a month now reading and researching.

I found this 95 GC with only 125K original miles. As far as I know original motor and tranny. It needs a little work but for only 1900 what do you expect. I will tell you this, it's a H#LL of a lot better car then I started with.

What we have in the begining:

Now when I drove it home I noticed some unusual Vibration and I suspected the motor mounts might be the culprit. HA HA all that time reading paid off replaced tranny mount and both motor mounts and she purrrs like a kitten now. I did notice a few more things I need to take care of before I turn her loose in the coming months. New brakes all around, minor oil leak around valve cover, and possible radiator leak on lower radiator hose. I have about 3-4 months to get this baby into tip top shape before I turn her loose with it. If you guys can think of anything I should check out I would appreciate it if you could give me a heads up. I love to tinker on cars so I will be elbows deep in this thing until she gets her license.

Old and new mounts

Nice ZJ! Really low miles for a 95. Maybe do plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and fuel and air filters along with brakes. Should be good to go!

Change all of the fluids and filters, get a reusable transmission pan gasket from the dealer for twenty bucks, well worth the price. Change all of the hoses, thermostat, and maybe the radiator if you suspect there may be a problem. A complete tune up with new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires is a good idea. Replace the fuel filter too. It's all easy stuff to do and will pay off in the long run. Maybe pull all of the seats out except for the driver seat. That way your daughter's Jeep won't be the monkey bus and be packed full of bad ideas during lunch period.

Remember to check the brakes. That's the most important system on ANY vehicle. My DAD always said "It may not run for ****, but it's GOT to be able to stop."
