Talking dana 35. leaf/coil difference

OK so here's what I got. I have a 96 grand Cherokee with a Dana 35 3.55 ratio. With about 315k on it. Needless to say its shot. The axles are toast. I have a Dana 35 3.55 ratio sitting on the garage floor but its from a leaf spring Cherokee. No idea what year. Mine has the disc brake with the drum set up for the e brake and the one on the floor is just drum. Will the axles from the leaf spring rear fit the one that's in my Jeep? They both have ABS. I'm kinda new to Jeeps and was hoping a Dana 35 was a Dana 35. Just different housings.

There may be a difference in the spline count between the axle shafts and the length may be different too. The ABS tone ring could also be different, but those can be pressed off and on without much problem. About all you can do is pull the shafts out and compare them. New shafts are quite spendy, but are available from www.rockauto.com .

Shafts themselves are identical. But you will need to swap the abs tone rings between the shafts as they are different diameters. Also, you'll want to swap wheel studs if you are running stock wheels...if you have steel wheels like soft 8's etc you can use the XJ studs.
