CV boot repair?
Will I need any specialty tools? Pullers, sockets and such? My 95ZJ with select-trac is in need of two new CV boots, have already purchased the repair kits. I have to go rent a spring compressor in the mornin to finish my 2"RX bb and I want to tackle these while I got in the air.

Check and see what reman axle shafts would cost, if the boots have been torn up long enough you could bet there is damage to the joints. About the only special tool needed would be band clamp pliers.

Thanks for the reply, I priced them through Autozone and looks like the are about 50.00 a piece, not bad. I am not sure if the ones in the jeep are toast though. They are not making the notorious ticking sound. But I also don't know how long they have been torn. I purchased this jeep from my neighbor after looking at it sitting in front of his house for 4 years(engine issues). Simply found them torn when I started installing the lift kit.

You should take them out and take them apart. Clean all parts in hot water with litle soap. Its easy. You would see if they need to be replaced.

We broke a cv joint offroading a hour away from the house drove it how make one hell of a something slaping in the front end noise did 60 all the way home. Didn't say I was the smart. Aand rebuild kits are more expensive than assemblies.

I wasn't driving my camry when front right went out, but was told she was turning a corner from stop and something popped and there was no power. Luckily she parked it on flat surface w/o setting parking brake and it didn't roll down the embankment 3' away. We pulled it home and it didn't weave around too bad. I wouldn't want it to happen at high speed. I was told when the clicking is evident on straight away driving it's close too coming apart. Clicking on turns is the first sign. My GC is clicking on turns now. BTW, What does ZJ, YJ, etc. mean?
