EDIT: looks like they are just a little longer.

EDIT#2: we're gonna find out just how well they fit. Hopefully won't need new shocks.

 

They're not gonna provide any lift. You'll be lucky if they'll sit level with what your ZJ is supposed to sit stock. You lose at least 1" of lift using XJ springs on a ZJ. I know this, my front coils are XJ Clayton coils.

 

I thought my Jeep was an XJ? I don't understand that part I guess....it's a unibody from between 1984 and 2001.

 

You said you have a 93 Grand Cherokee, right? That's a ZJ. A Cherokee is an XJ.

Hopefully with the UpCountry coils being a bit taller they will look ok on there. I only have the 6 cylinder in it.

 

Upcountry springs are factory 1" taller than stock. What are you trying to gain by switching to springs that in all likelihood are going to lower the front end of your ZJ?

 

Inexpensive fix. My drivers side is broken at the very bottom so it's sitting a bit low right now.

Had anyone replied with this information last night I might not have bought them for free + shipping.

They are 1" taller, and on ZJ's they're stiffer, but I don't know how a model change is going to affect the stiffnes.

 

I would say it definitely did not lower my Jeep. It jacked it up a little. The back was slightly higher than the front before the spring change, and now the front is clearly higher.

how's your shocks working? I think it looks great. Did you put your front shocks on the rear?

 

Thanks. I only drove it around the house so I don't know. Didn't think of putting the fronts in back. I'd need to shorten them up with the bandsaw because the bottom ring was broken off on 1. Not sure if that would work?

EDIT: I think it would work, the back end is about an inch low now I think........back in the garage tomorrow.

 

Why would you put your front shocks on the rear? They wouldn't even work that way, have you looked at ZJ front shocks? The front shocks are completely different from the rear shocks.

I was going to look at them closely before taking them off. I don't see anything different but the length without going outside with a flashlight.

 

I can only assume he was talking about swapping a set of front coils into the rear. It's a common lift, achieving 3.5" of lift, but the shocks are completely different. They wouldn't work without major modifications, rear shocks have eyelets at both ends, while the fronts have bar pins at the bottom and attach under the hood in the front.
