Default Chattering noise when cold...but not right away

In the morning, when the engine is cold, I first start the jeep everything sounds fine and normal. 15-20 seconds later I then hear a chattering coming from the engine compartment. This "chattering" goes away when the jeep warms up and I don't hear it after that point unless I let the engine cool all the way back down as it would sitting overnight.

Any ideas on what this could usually be?

Could be the serpentine belt.

I'm just making sure....if it were the rockers or lifters, would they rattle all the time?

Lifters would tend to make more noise when cold, quieting down as the engine warms up. If it has a lot of miles, the lifters and rockers could be noisy all the time from increased wear.

ok, so I got a new belt for the jeep. So I read that my 95 jeep cherokee laredo needs to have the power steering bolts loosened, the long bolt behind it loosened, as well as the idler pulley bolt loosened to have the old belt come off. Is this correct and complete?
