Changing ZJ steering fluid

The steering on my 97 has been getting pretty heavy at low speed recently, on checking the dipstick I note the fluid is a dark red - instead of light cherry red.

On consulting the Haynes manual I note there is No drain plug  do I have to loosen one of the hoses to drain it ?.

If I'm remembering right all you have to do to change/bleed the fluid in the ps pump is follow the rubber hose at the bottom of the reservoir to a hose clamp, that connects the rubber hose to a metal line. Disconnect it from the reservoir and route that rubber line to a bucket. I did this when I had to change my ps pump; it came with a cap for the reservoir, so you may have to find something so it will hold fluid. If you can find a way to extend the hose and put it near the bottom of a bucket it will keep things from getting too messy. Let it drain, add more fluid so that the reservoir never completely empties, have someone turn the car on, and turn the wheel from left to right, be sure to keep adding until the fluid comes out looking like when it went in. Replace that rubber hose if you can, and reassemble. Start it up and and check you fluid level, adding any if neccessary.
