Default CB Antenna

OK I know its not a strictly GC thing but its not a fabrication Q and is technical so I guess it should post here????? I want to get a NGP antenna for my GC Im going to mount it above the tail light my question is are the 3 foot antennas the same signal wise as their 4 foot??? Firestik antenna of course and also is there a way I can run the coax through the jeep so its not seen without drilling new holes?

I mounted my cb above the rear tail light on my xj and then ran the coax cable under the trim that goes above the doors. You should be able to do something similar on your gc, just look at the trim and see how the pieces come off

There are a lot of technical specs that the antenna should follow, along with the radio and coax cable. I have seen people buy and install stuff that was hardly better than "line of sight" meaning if you cant see them the CB would not work.

The more antenna you have sticking up above the body of the jeep, the better it will work. Longer the antenna the better, optimum lenght antenna is 8.5" but there are may types that "cheat" this spec with a coil, or coiled wire. You still want the antenna as high as possible. Give the antenna mount a good ground to the body. Best mount spot for antenna would be on the roof or at least on/near a large metal panel. Try to get a coax cable length that fits what you need, if you have excess cable do not coil it up.

Thanks for the input but NGP means no ground plane needed so it doesnt need a ground its built into the coax and the signal doesnt reflect of the metal of the truck it is emitted through the top of the antenna. I dont mind it sticking up from the top I just wanted to know if there is a difference in the sizes besides height. I dont think I can run the wire in the moulding thanks for the idea though.

I tucked mine into the interior moulding and out the hole the taillight wires run through, then across the top of the light to the side. After breaking the antenna 3 times in a row, I finally went with a magnetic mount on the bumper though.
