Default Catalytic converter is smoking?

Just got my exhaust replaced on my jeep but now when I drive, smoke starts coming out of the cat and sometimes the smell gets into the cab and It doesn't smell very good. I replaced it with a system that was from a same jeep grand cherokee that a guy was parting out. I bought the exhaust from him for 20$ and got it all installed and now the smoke comes off of just one of the cats and into the engine bay. The engine light came on and I read the codes and it said it was an exhaust sensor. Should I replace the cat or is this normal for a jeep that has been sitting for almost a year?

It's not normal. Get this looked at right away before you burn something up.
